Is the Community edition really free?
Yes. Embedabot is open source under the AGPL-3.0 license. You can download it, run it and use it for your business or your clients without paying us anything.
So what does it cost to run?
Your own infrastructure and providers: a server, PostgreSQL and Redis; usage fees from your language model provider (or just your own hardware if you self-host a model); and per-number and per-message fees from Twilio or Telnyx. You pay those providers directly. We don't add a markup.
Are any features held back for paid plans?
There are no paid plans. Every feature on this site is in the open-source code.
What does AGPL-3.0 mean for my business?
You can use, modify and self-host the software freely, including for clients. If you modify it and let people use your modified version over a network, you must offer them the source code of your version. This is a summary, not legal advice.
